Freelancing / Virtual Assistant

The Future of Freelancing: How to Keep Your Job When AI Is Changing the Game?

September 15, 2025

As a freelancer for over 10 years, I’ve seen how the online work landscape has changed.

From being a career unknown to many, to the rise of freelancing during the pandemic era, to this year’s advancement of AI.

AND ONE THING IS FOR SURE: We’ve got to keep up to make sure we stay in the game.

And honestly, even I, after learning about AI for 2 years, am mind-blown by how powerful AI can get.

I see marketing videos with a person talking about it, WITHOUT THEM actually filming it.
I see images being generated in seconds.
I see captions, emails, or website copy being written from a few-word prompt.

Well, yes, AI can’t do everything (yet), and clients are still hiring freelancers to do things for them.

But in the coming years, we aren’t sure how far AI advancements can go.

So, what else is left for us to do?
Be the one who can run AI tools.

First, you must understand.

Next, you must use.

Finally, you must master.

So, what is AI and how does it work?

Artificial intelligence, or what almost everyone calls AI, is simply a program.
But not the usual “fixed set of instructions” kind of program.

It learns and adapts, like us.

HOW?

Just as how we, humans, learn from experience, AI learn from data.
From every information it gets, it learns how to improve itself.

There are different types of AI, but since we are talking about freelancing, let’s talk more about Generative AI.

Generative AI is a type of AI that can, from the word itself, generate things.
As I mentioned earlier, it can create text, images, videos, music, voice, and even computer programs!

As a freelancer, you should start learning how to use it.

Depending on your niche, you can begin with AI tools relevant to your service.

Are you a Virtual Assistant?

You can start asking AI to write emails, automate appointment reminders, organize files with smart tagging, and MORE!

Are you a Social Media Manager?

Study AI tools that help in content creation, post scheduling, response automation, content strategy, and again..MORE!

Are you a Video Editor?

You can research how AI can help you shorten your editing time. It can generate an entire video’s transcript, it can detect silence and dead-airs, and it can even turn a text into a voice.

In the coming blogs, I’ll be sharing some tools that you can try.
Because, as I mentioned, the third thing you must do is to…

Master AI

You don’t have to fear it.
Do not run away from it. Don’t be threatened by it.

You can actually maximize it to save some time and, of course, to earn more 😀

One way to make sure you keep your job is to DO IT WELL.
And if you can, DO IT WELL WITH AI.

And always remember, research makes things clearer.
So, whenever you feel lost, maximize that tiny magnifying glass icon and it’ll give you the data you need.

Happy Freelancing, Boss Up Fam!

Creative block, no more 😁

Well, yes, AI is a new friend. But Canva? Always a homey for us, freelancers.

So, if you haven’t heard or seen yet about Canva’s Magic Studio, lemme show you 2 of its AI.

One is for writing 📝 Canva Magic Write
One is for designing 🎨 Canva Magic Design

BUT. BUT. BUT.

Make sure that:
👉your prompts are aligned with your or your client’s branding
👉you double-check what the AI generates
👉improve and personalize it as much as possible

⚠️Don’t use AI, Bosses…
if eto yung purpose ng paggamit nyo:

🙅🏻‍♀️𝗔𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 (ID or card numbers, names, and such)

Yes, even the seemingly simple tasks like:
❌ Can you arrange this list of emails in alphabetical order?
❌ Here's our revenue data from last quarter. Please make a chart.

🙅🏻‍♀️𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁
You have two options here, Bosses.

First, explain mo kay client that it is just a tool + how to maximize it sa business nya.
But if even after explaining, ayaw talaga nila, we have to follow the request or requirement ni client :)

🙅🏻‍♀️𝗥𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗜

Very big no, Bosses! I’ll tell you frankly. It’s obvious when something is purely generated by AI, especially if it doesn’t exactly sound like your/your client’s brand voice.

Also, take note that AI is not always accurate.
We can use it, but do not forget to review and add a personal touch.

Okay?

What else do you think ang mga scenario na hindi natin dapat gamitin ang AI?

Share your thoughts below, Bosses 👇

We’ve been warned 😬 These exact words are all over the net now, Bosses.

And as I learn more about AI, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 caught my attention.
Did you know that companies now hire someone to create, test, and optimize prompts?

Yes, as in prompts. Yung instructions or inputs na tinatype natin sa AI system like ChatGPT. 🤯Can you imagine?

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Just a list of engineered prompts and *tadaaa*, business owners can have the content that they need for their social media pages.

That’s why we have to keep up. We’ve got to be good at creating engineered prompts (not just simple generic prompts)

Now is really the best time to dive into AI 🤖

Soooo, if bet mo rin mag-upskill, stay tuned sa channel natin, Bosses!

𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡-𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗧:
We read and consider how you write your cover letter, not just your resumé.

REMINDERS for your next application:
❌Wag ka magsesend ng attachment lang ng resumé.
❌Wag din link lang ng profile or portfolio mo.

Please give us context.
➡️Mention things that highlight your qualifications or experiences that meet the job posting’s requirements.
➡️If walang experience, share your learning journey (trainings, courses, internships, personal projects) and what you actually know about the things mentioned sa job post

Keep it short but convincing.

If you’re not sure HOW, I have a video guide on how you can write an effective one.
Comment COVER LETTER below so I can send it to you, Boss Up Fam 💻
