4 Popular AI Tools in 2026: Which One Freelancers Should Use?
If you’re like me, who loves ChatGPT, let me share why I stopped using it for everything.
Back then, ChatGPT was my go-to AI tool for almost everything: researching, writing, brainstorming, you name it.
But after using other tools, I realized that not all AIs are built the same.
Each one is designed with different strengths and systems.
So in this blog, I’ll share which AI tools I personally use for specific tasks.
1. Claude
If your job also includes content repurposing, Claude is actually my new AI tool for that!
I use it to:
- Create multiple social media posts out of one blog article.
- Create a color-coded visual summary of any long-form content.
- Rewrite the same piece of content in multiple tones (professional, casual, humorous, etc.) for different audiences.
2. ChatGPT
Of course, still included in our list: ChatGPT.
If you’re a Virtual Assistant, a Social Media Manager, or a Content Writer, you can rely on ChatGPT’s writing style.
We can use it in:
- Generating social media captions and post ideas.
- Brainstorming marketing campaign concepts.
- Drafting client emails, proposals, and outlines.
- Translating languages for global clients.
- Creating custom GPTs for repetitive SMM workflows.
But if our prompts are not clear and complete, the results can sound generic or templated.
That’s why prompt engineering matters.
The more specific and strategic our instructions are, what we call the “Golden Prompt”, the more customized, high-quality, and on-brand the output will be.
3. Perplexity AI
But if my task for a client leans more toward research, data gathering, and fact-checking, I’m maximizing Perplexity AI.
Without hours of manual searching and opening hundreds of tabs, I use it in:
- Conducting research and gathering up-to-date information.
- Fact-checking data, content, or social media captions.
- Summarizing long articles, reports, or transcripts.
- Finding credible sources and citations for content or campaigns.
- Exploring market trends, audience insights, or competitor strategies.
4. Gemini
Since most of us already use Google Workspace in our freelance work, it makes sense to use Gemini as part of our everyday workflow.
Like, instead of copying prompts into another AI tool and pasting the results back into Docs or Gmail, Gemini works directly inside Google apps.
Here’s how we can use it:
- Summarize long text, like data or meeting notes (inside Google Docs)
- Clean up data, analyze numbers, or generate formulas in Google Sheets (yup, without searching for tutorials)
- Generate images or visuals when creating presentations (directly in Google Slides)
- Draft and improve client email replies (right within Gmail)
- Brainstorm and organize outlines inside Docs (while we’re actively working on the document)
It’s actually nice and time-efficient.
But here’s the thing: yes, it’s free for simple Q&A tasks, like what we do with ChatGPT and Perplexity, but to use Gemini inside Google apps, we’ll need a Google Workspace plan.
So no, you don’t have to choose and use just one among these 4 tools.
What we can do is know which tool is best for the task we’re currently doing.
There is no perfect AI, that’s for sure, but we can get the most out of each tool when we match it to the right task.
